No visit to Alaska is complete without spending a day on the open water fishing for halibut and salmon. Meet your captain and crew at 6:30 a.m. at our Spit office before you walk down to the harbor and get settled in for a scenic ride that will take you away from the crowds into pristine Alaska’s coastal wilderness. Worried about motion sickness? We have some of the only vessels in Alaska that have Seakeeper gyro stabilization systems installed. This system eliminates 90% of vessel roll, the leading cause of seasickness. Our seasoned captain and crew will teach you all you need to know to bring the big ones over the rail and into the cooler. When your arms are tired and the day is done, our deckhand will expertly fillet and prepare your fish to be picked up by the processor at the dock. You’ll roll back into the harbor around 4:30 p.m. with plenty of time to check out the local shops on the boardwalk and have a fine meal at one of our outstanding restaurants.

3/4 Day Halibut

Many Alaska visitors want to experience saltwater fishing but simply do not have all day to spend out on the ocean. Destination Alaska has designed a trip just for you! Our 3/4 day adventure is a relaxing trip meant to show you the best of Kachemak Bay's wildlife and introduce you to the joy of catching Halibut. While Halibut are the primary target, there are many other crazy species lurking in the waters below. The day might be shorter but we have not cut corners on this trip. You'll be on one of our luxury, gyro-stabilized vessels with tons of horsepower and all the comforts that you would expect from a high-end charter.

How about the ability to focus on a particular species of fish (i.e. Halibut or Salmon)? Care to stop in Seldovia or pause to watch whales? Who's turn is it to reel in the fish? Flexibility is key! Our private charters are also the best match for corporate groups, wedding parties, and families with younger kids.
